An evening of nonstop laughter is on the playbill October 24 through November 9 when San Luis Obispo Repertory Theatre presents the outrageously funny comedy Unnecessary Farce.
Directed by Lawrence Lesher, whose past SLO REP credits include audience favorites Around the World in 80 Days and Misery, this popular farce promises fast-paced hilarity, quick-witted dialogue, and some of the funniest scenes ever staged at the intimate theatre in downtown San Luis Obispo.
Paul Slade Smith’s play takes place in a cheap motel room, where two rookie cops have set up a sting operation on a crooked mayor. But with bungling officers, mistaken identities, and an ever-escalating series of misunderstandings, the case quickly spirals into comic chaos.
The production features eight doors, two videotapes, and one bagpipe-playing hitman, not to mention a powerhouse cast including Jason Winfield, Courtney Ekstrom, Ava Lovelace, Tony Costa, Eb Madson, Bonnie deChant, and Peter Hadres.
