A San Luis Obispo holiday tradition continues when San Luis Obispo Repertory Theatre stages its annual production November 21 through December 21 of A Christmas Story, a play by Philip Grecian based on the film of the same name.

Jean Shepherd’s classic tale of childhood dreams and holiday misadventures is directed by Kevin Harris, and once again stars Ben Abbott narrating the story as the adult Ralph.

The story follows nine-year-old Ralphie on his determined quest for the ultimate Christmas gift—a genuine Red Ryder BB gun. Along the way, he pleads his case with cranky parents, stern teachers, even Santa himself. The consistent response: “You’ll shoot your eye out!”

Packed with holiday mischief, childhood dreams and nostalgic charm, A Christmas Story captures the magic of the season with wit, warmth and plenty of laughs.
