The Central Coast Writers’ Conference at Cuesta College, recognized as the “Best Conference in the West” by The Writer magazine, returns September 26 and 27 with a new director at its helm.

Local writer Meagan Friberg is an experienced journalist who has served as a key conference volunteer for more than a decade. She holds degrees in journalism and mass communication, and is a former newspaper reporter and magazine editor who’s been published in numerous magazines, newspapers and online sites.
“Meagan’s professional experience as a writer and event planner, along with her welcoming disposition and fresh ideas, will help ensure a meaningful, inclusive experience for attendees,” according to Wes Martin, Cuesta’s director of community programs and continuing education.
Friberg has announced that the theme of this year’s conference, “It’s Time,” aims to empower writers at every stage to achieve their goals. “I’m excited to bring together talented professionals from the writing and business community,” Friberg says. “With the help of our dedicated volunteers and top-tier speakers, we’re creating a diverse lineup of keynotes, workshops, panels, master classes, and networking opportunities.”
The two-day event, to be held September 26 and 27, will feature keynote speakers, workshops, panels, and master classes. Super Early Bird registration, which at $200 is a considerable savings over the regular $300 rate, is available online through April 30.
