Ensemble Theatre Company (ETC) at the Old Vic in Santa Barbara opens its 44th season on October 6 with Carmen Jones, a reimagining of the classic opera directed by ETC artistic director Jonathan Fox.

This story of the bewitching Carmen (Fredericka Meek making her ETC debut) is set in a World War II-era parachute factory. It features all of Bizet’s famous music, with book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II.

The production, which runs through October 23, is made possible through the generosity of show sponsors Dana White and the Zegar Family Foundation. Additional sponsorship comes from Eve Berstein and Helene Segal and George Konstantinow.
