Martians, mayhem, and death rays are on the menu as By the Sea Productions stages the famous H.G. Welles War of the Worlds radio show that caused a panic when it aired in October 1938.
Directed by Rick Bruce, the audience-immersive show features loud sound effects, flashing lights, fog effects, and at least one of the promised death rays.
The cast includes Chrys Barnes, Larry Barnes, Carter Broad, Joyce Calderone, Rhonda Crowfoot, Abe Lincoln, Jim Luke, Rayna Ortiz, Laura Richie, Sandy Schwarer, and Russell Snow.
The By the Sea Productions version of War of the Worlds opens Friday, October 13, and runs through October 29, with shows on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. at 545 Shasta Ave. in Morro Bay.
