Black Rabbit Books recently published two new nonfiction books for children by Central Coast author Marne Ventura in its “Creative Careers” series.

12 Careers that Create Art and Design and 12 Careers that Create Music both deliver middle-grade content at a fourth-grade reading level, and feature accessible layouts and self-contained chapters including real-world examples, career stat boxes, a glossary, and extra book and website resources.

Covering 12 different jobs in art and design, the first title explores the colorful world of visual arts careers, from illustrators and graphic designers to teachers, curators, and photographers.

From producers and sound engineers to mixers, songwriters, and managers, the second title covers jobs in music that help shape every beat and lyric.

Both books describe what each in-demand role does, the skills needed, and how to get started.

A former elementary school teacher, Ventura also contributes stories and articles to children’s magazines, and works with her husband to create iOS apps for learning math, science, reading and social studies.
