Basin Street Regulars continues to celebrate its 50th anniversary year by bringing St. John’s Riverboat Jazz Band from Visalia to play its Sunday Jazz Concert on September 27 at the Pismo Beach Veterans’ Memorial Hall.
Originally named the Tule Basin Jazz Band from College of the Sequoias, St. John’s Riverboat Jazz Band continues to play upbeat traditional/Dixieland jazz music. Over the last 29 years, many members have come and gone, but original members Fank Cardoza, Jason Hughes, and Mario Marquez continue to lead the group with tight chemistry, joyful rhythm, and authentic New Orleans flair.
A jam session starts at 11 a.m. with the concert following from 12:30 to 4 p.m. The Riverboat Rustlers, a new traditional jazz band made up of young students from the Fresno and Clovis area, is the intermission band.
