Canzona Women’s Ensemble is looking for singers with previous choral experience who are eager to showcase their vocal abilities. Specifically, the ensemble is looking for women who possess a strong sense of musicality, dedication, and a desire to contribute to Canzona’s success.
San Luis Obispo County’s all-women’s choral ensemble stages two concerts per season, one in the fall and one in the spring. Conceived by artistic directors and co-conductors Cricket Handler and Jill Anderson in 2009, the group collaborates with many other Central Coast artists, including poets, composers, dancers, and musicians of all ages.
Auditions for the group’s fall concert, “Winter Reverie,” are set for August 20 in San Luis Obispo and August 22 in Shell Beach. Tryouts consist of a prepared solo piece of the singer’s choice, some sight-reading exercises, and vocal range exploration.
