The program manager of the Gala Pride & Diversity Center presents the next Carnegie Lecture at the History Center of San Luis Obispo on Thursday, June 4 at 6 p.m.

Linnea Valdivia will discuss LGBTQIA+ issues in celebration of Pride Month. Through her work with Gala and as a board member of Tranz Central Coast, Valdivia expresses a deep belief in the power of community, and in how stories can profoundly shape the world.

Before stepping into the nonprofit arena, she spent more than a decade as a dramaturg, playwright, and producer collaborating with organizations like the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and the National Queer Theatre.

The lecture also marks the opening of a new exhibit celebrating Pride Month at the History Center’s Carnegie Library Museum, 696 Monterey Street in Downtown San Luis Obispo. Light refreshments will be served.
