San Luis Obispo Repertory Theatre will raise the curtain on its 80th season this July.

Season tickets go on sale June 3 for its five Mainstage shows:

  • The Father: A Tragic Farce by Florian Zeller (opens August 28)
  • Gutenberg! The Musical! By Anthony King and Scott Brown (opens October 9)
  • Seminar by Theresa Rebeck (opens April 2, 2027)
  • Three Tall Women by Edward Albee (opens May 7, 2027)
  • The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee by William Finn & Rachel Sheinkin (opens June 11, 2027)

In addition, SLO REP has announced its holiday show, Million Dollar Quartet Christmas (opening November 20), and one special event musical, Forever Plaid (opening February 12, 2027).

The Academy of Creative Theatre, an education and training program offering year-round theatre classes, camps, and performance opportunities for young artists ages 3-18, opens SLO REP’s 80th season with a production of Disney & Pixar’s Finding Nemo on July 10, followed by Number the Stars, based on the book by Lois Lowry, opening January 15, 2027.

SLO REP also has announced the 22nd season of Ubu’s Other Shoe, its staged reading series named after the infamous trilogy of plays written by Alfred Jarry (Ubu Roi) that were banned from the stage after riots erupted on opening night. Ubu’s Other Shoe pays homage to the spirit of Jarry and to all artists who strive to explore the fringes of their art.

The series offers an opportunity to experience plays that do not necessarily fit into SLO REP’s regular main stage season:

  • The Designated Mourner by Wallace Shawn (August 7-8)
  • The Vertical Hour by David Hare (September 18-19)
  • The Guys by Anne Nelson (January 29-30, 2027)
  • Incognito by Nick Payne (March 19-20, 2027)
  • Nickel and Dimed by Joan Holden (April 23-24)
