Ceramicist Michelle Solorzano explores how identity and history are shaped through experiences of colonization and immigration in Memoria Disfrazada, an exhibition during the month of February in the Atrium Gallery of Studios on the Park in Paso Robles.

Drawing inspiration from Dominican Carnaval—a space where celebration and critique coexist, Solorzano reimagines the mask as both protection and revelation. Her work questions who controls historical narratives and whose stories are remembered or obscured.

In response to the current political climate, Solorzano’s body of work reflects on what is hidden, what is performed, and what endures.
