“I guarantee you’ve not rung in a New Year until you’ve done it with OperaSLO at Performing Arts Center San Luis Obispo!”
That’s maestro Brian Asher Alhadeff promising that a good time will be had by all during OperaSLO’s planned New Year’s Eve Super Gala beginning at 7 p.m. on December 31.
The event features a dozen internationally acclaimed soloists, along with Central Coast Gilbert & Sullivan, Cuesta Concord Chorus, Applause Children’s Theater, and the OperaSLO Children’s Chorus, all accompanied by the OperaSLO Grand Orchestra.
“This is more than a concert,” Alhadeff says. “It is a celebration of music, community, and pure artistry.”
Guest conductors include Jenn Martin and Cassandra Tarrantino. Soloists include sopranos Ashley Becker, Kaitrin Cunningham, Jennifer Freye and Amy Goymerac; baritone Gabriel Manro; mezzo-sopranos Karen Dunn, Christina Pezzarossi Ramsey and Jessica Gonzalez Rodriguez; contralto Stephanie Brink; tenors James Brescia and Dominic Salvati; and Resident Youth Artists Jacy Miller and Eva Alhadeff.
The evening’s program includes the San Luis Obispo premiere of Wagner’s “Ride of the Valkyries” (with eight Valkyries), in addition to hits from Fiddler on the Roof, Lucia Di Lammermoor, Sound of Music, Faust, Once Upon A Mattress, Pirates of Penzance, and more.
