Festival Mozaic‘s 2025 Artist-in-Residence, cellist Sophie Shao, completes her residency with a chamber music concert on Sunday, October 26, exploring three works of intimate chamber music.
In the organization’s first concert of the 2025-26 season, Shao will be joined by violinist Carmit Zori and pianist Amy Cheng, both of whom are new to Festival Mozaic audiences.
Beginning the program is the California premiere performance of Elena Ruehr’s “Cello Sonata,” which was composed specifically for Shao and Cheng in 2024. Next up is a 1915 piano trio by Charles Ives, then Czech composer Antonín Dvořák’s carefully-crafted piano trio from 1883.
The chamber concert begins at 3 p.m. in the Harold J. Miossi Cultural and Performing Arts Center at Cuesta College. A free pre-concert lecture with Dr. Alyson McLamore begins at 2 p.m. on the stage before the concert.
