The San Luis Obispo Vocal Arts Ensemble has announced the winner of a $1,000 scholarship, to be awarded at the group’s “Welcome to Summer” concert June 3.
Matilda Bravante, a senior at Morro Bay High School, is this year’s recipient of the scholarship from the Gary and Patricia Lamprecht Endowment, which was started five years ago on the 40th anniversary of the founding of Vocal Arts to honor its founder and his wife. The endowment is one of the only local sources of scholarships for music education.
Bravante says she has loved music her entire life. After graduation she is attending Cuesta College with plans to join Cuesta’s Jazz Choir. She also plans to take private singing lessons and continue developing her voice by playing gigs with her band.
