Sing, dance, and laugh with fellow music lovers—no experience necessary—when Cal Poly Arts presents the interactive show Choir! Choir! Choir! on Friday, May 30 in the Performing Arts Center SLO’s Harold Miossi Hall.
A fully immersive, choral experience, the audience becomes the performer as you harmonize with a room full of people. All voices are welcome: They teach, you sing.
“I joke that you’re not signing a mortgage—you’re just singing a song,” says one of the show’s directors, Nobu Adilman. “We don’t pedal in official music speak at all. It’s lows, mids and highs. You’re in one of those sections. You can start in one and end in another. Then we split you up into parts and then we teach the parts and put them together.”
Since 2011, Choir! Choir! Choir! directors have blurred the lines between performer and audience, traveling the world to create harmony with strangers and friends alike. They’ve collaborated with renowned artists like Patti Smith, David Byrne, Brandi Carlile, Rick Astley, Rufus Wainwright, and even Kermit The Frog at New York’s Lincoln Center, creating memorable videos that have garnered views in the millions.
