This event was scheduled July 19-August 11, 2024.
An elderly king decides to divide his kingdom between his three daughters. Is he capricious, foolish, or on the precipice of madness?
Decide for yourself when the Central Coast Shakespeare Festival presents a dozen performances of the powerful and moving tragedy King Lear outdoors on the Filipponi Ranch in San Luis Obispo during July and August.
Lear’s rash decision sets in motion the tragic tale of fractured families, feigned love, and betrayal—but also of duty, devotion and a hope for redemption.
Performance dates for the show, which is directed by Zoe Saba and Cindy Totten, are Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays July 19 through August 11.
Doors open to the outdoor seating area one hour before curtain to allow audience members time to settle in. Be sure to bring a standard height lawn chair and picnic meal—Filipponi Ranch wine is available for sale by glass or bottle, as no outside alcohol is permitted.
