The SLO Film Festival takes over the Fremont Theater on Thursday, April 25 for its Opening Night gala that includes a film “straight from Sundance.”
Along with screening the film Ghostlight—currently rated 100% on Rotten Tomatoes—the evening promises food and wine from Luna Red and Ancient Peaks Winery, mingling, and a special Q&A with the filmmakers. This is the only screening of the film during the festival this year.
Ghostlight is an extraordinary and heartfelt film that follows a melancholic construction worker as he drifts away from his wife and daughter, only to discover solace and purpose within a local theatre production of Romeo and Juliet. As the drama unfolds onstage, paralleling his own life, he and his family learn to confront their own personal loss.
The gala begins at 5 p.m. with a pre-reception open only to “All-Access” pass holders, followed by the screening at 7 p.m.
