More than 160 fine artists and crafters will open their studios and welcome art-loving visitors during the SLO County Arts Council’s 28th annual Open Studios Art Tour.
During the weekends of October 10-11 and October 17-18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., you can explore studios, learn about the artists’ processes and, at some locations, see a demonstration. The tour is free and purchases directly support the participating artists.
Visitors can create their own self-guided tour using a combination of the Open Studios Art Tour catalog and online digital maps. Information is grouped by region and city and includes street addresses for each participating artist.
Printed catalogs include two indexes so you can search by name or medium, and you can find copies at locations throughout the county.
Open Studios gives artists an opportunity to showcase their work and to connect with the community in an intimate studio setting.
“The Tour gives people a chance to go beyond seeing art in a gallery,” according to participating Pismo Beach artist Gayle Rappaport-Weiland. “They can meet the artist in their creative environment, ask questions and get a glimpse into the artist’s soul.”
