Nominations and applications are open for the next Poet Laureate of San Luis Obispo County.
The position, regarded as the county’s most eminent or representative poet, has been held by Caleb Nichols since 2025.
The next occupant of the position will begin serving a two-year term in 2027, and is expected to raise the awareness of poetry in the region and to help celebrate the literary arts.
The laureate is selected by a SLO County Arts committee of community leaders with significant expertise in education, poetry, civic and cultural leadership, and the literary arts.
