On October 9, Cal Poly Arts welcomes Lucía, a rising star in jazz, to the Spanos Theatre on the Cal Poly campus.
With a stunning voice, powerful stage presence, and versatile style, Lucía seems set to redefine the global jazz scene. Her debut album (released just this year) blends soulful jazz standards with the warmth of Latin folk.
Lucía captivated audiences when at 23 she was the first Mexican finalist—and winner—at the Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition. Her performance of “What a Difference a Day Makes,” blending English jazz ballad, Spanish bolero, and zapateado dance, marked her unique style.
