A short film chronicling local composer Brook Munro’s efforts to produce an album blending instrumentation with the sounds of harvest screens Saturday, January 25 at the Cambria Center for the Arts.
The Cambria Film Festival presents Harvest Calls, with a pre-screening reception beginning at 6 p.m. featuring wine provided by Claiborne & Churchill, the winery featured in the film.
The documentary chronicles Munro and his album, Harvest in Twelve Parts. The free-form album offers a sonically immersive experience, blending rich instrumentation with the sounds of harvest, including grapes being juiced and birds chirping in the vineyard.
Harvest Calls shows Munro collaborating with other Central Coast artists and musicians across the Central Coast. Directed by Kyle Plummer, the short is produced by Munro & Superimage Ltd. The film won the favorite Central Coast documentary short award at the 2024 SLO International Film Festival.
A Q&A with Plummer and Munro follows the screening, as well as a live interactive audience participation event where the musician shares techniques he uses to create free-form music with non-traditional instruments.
Tickets are $25 plus processing fees, with discounts available for Cambria Center for the Arts and Festival members.
