Daniel Gumbiner will discuss his novel Fire in the Canyon at the Harold J. Miossi Cultural and Performing Arts Center at Cuesta College from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 17.
A book signing will follow the lecture, which is part of the annual Book of the Year countywide event sponsored by County of San Luis Obispo Public Libraries, Cuesta College Library, and Paso Robles City Library.
Gumbiner’s book, a California Book Award finalist and one of The New Yorker’s best books of 2023, is described as “a classic California story.”
“Fire feels so real, and it’s a total page-turner,” according to Erica Thatcher, SLO Public Libraries engagement and marketing coordinator. “Family farms, natural wines, and wildfires. There are some interesting and important ideas in this book. We hope folks will discuss and share this story.”
Tickets are $22 and are available online.
