With popular entertainment event Live Oak Music Festival on hiatus for next year, local public radio station KCBX continues to stage various community get-togethers that also serve as fundraisers for our embattled NPR affiliate.
So for the second year, KCBX is partnering with SLO Brew Rock to present Central Coast Sessions: a full day of live music, food and drink on Saturday, November 7 from noon to 10 p.m.
In addition to a packed schedule of local bands, the event also celebrates the legacy of two former members of the KCBX family: general manager Frank Lanzone and station operations chief Hank Hadley, both of whom recently passed away.
KCBX director of community engagement and events Katelyn Schiavone says that 100 percent of ticket proceeds will benefit the radio station’s news and music programming, a much-needed shot in the arm due to recent significant federal budget cuts.
The musical line-up will feature a who’s who of iconic local bands including Damon Castillo, Carbon City Lights, the Kicks, Electric Lavender Train and several more.
Schiavone says you can purchase KCBX and Live Oak merchandise, buy tickets for a raffle featuring local goods and services, and enjoy an exclusive Rod & Hammer spirits tasting.
Tickets are available online for the all-day concert. You can also make a donation there as well.
So come out to support our local public radio treasure while communing with friends on a special day of great live music at the Rock near the San Luis Obispo Airport.
