Art Center Morro Bay has scheduled a free “Gold Leaf in Calligraphy, Artwork, and History” workshop on Monday, May 13 from 3 to 5 p.m.
Led by art teacher Spencer Collins, the workshop will demonstrate how to apply gold leaf using two different techniques: one highlighting calligraphy and the other applying golf leaf to larger surfaces. Discussion will include the importance of gold in art during the Byzantine time period, and participants will look at art works by Gustav Klimt for further inspiration.
Collins, a popular artist known for fun, interactive workshops, has led numerous classes at Art Central in SLO and at Art Center Morro Bay. The workshop is free and open to the public.
