This month’s Art After Dark event on Friday, June 6 in San Luis Obispo features the Gala Pride and Diversity Center in honor of Pride Month. The Center is showcasing a photography exhibit, “These are the ways I hope we are remembered,” with an opening reception and Q&A with nationally-recognized trans photographer A Klass hosted by Tranz Central Coast.
The San Luis Obispo Museum of Art is marking the opening of its newest Nybak Gallery exhibition, “Deanna Barahona: Stars Love Being Alone.” Barahona’s work honors the stories found in ordinary things and ordinary moments—the messy and beautiful ways families hold onto love and culture across time and distance. The museum is offering free admission with everyone welcome to enjoy wine and beats from DJ Mermaid and DJ Mano Gil.
A map of all participating venues throughout the City of San Luis Obispo is available on the SLO County Arts website.
Art After Dark, hosted by SLO County Arts, is a free, self-guided community-centered art walk from 5 to 8 p.m. on the first Friday of most months. Participating businesses, galleries, and organizations transform into vibrant creative spaces, showcasing local art, live music and performances, community gatherings, and more.
