Have you ever attended the world premiere of a play? If not, here’s your chance. And if you have, you’re in for a truly original treat when Ubu’s Other Shoe presents a staged reading of 17 Raccoons (or It’s a Really Long Story).

Writer and actress Jill Turnbow (Between Iraq and a Hard Place) brings her latest one-woman show to life for just three performances on March 14 and 15 on the SLO Rep stage in downtown San Luis Obispo. She finds the hilarious moments in family trauma, as she shares the intimate details of a two-year period when “the highlight was being diagnosed with cancer.”

17 Raccoons is directed by Zoe Saba with artistic direction by Michael Siebrass. Original music is by David Norum. Show sponsor is Janice Fong Wolf.

Ubu’s Other Shoe is a staged reading series named after the infamous trilogy of plays written by Alred Jarry (Ubu Roi) that were banned from the stage after riots erupted on opening night. The series offers actors, directors and audience members an opportunity to experience incredible plays that do not necessarily fit into SLO Rep’s regular mainstage season.

Season sponsor for the series is Gina Kirk, and Pam & Mitch Nichter sponsor its artistic team.
