The California Arts Council has awarded 47 Arts Education Exposure grants to organizations across the state, but only one of those has landed in San Luis Obispo County.

The SLO Museum of Art is receiving $16,203 to provide free guided museum gallery tours, curriculum support, and teachers’ guides for schools. Funds also will be used to provide transportation subsidies to remove financial barriers to arts participation, as well as targeted summer programming for kids from historically underserved and under-resourced communities in the area.

“Our work in making the arts accessible and welcoming is not possible without grants like this,”according to SLOMA Executive Director Leann Standish. Central Coast teachers and school administrators are encouraged to contact the museum to book a free school group tour.
