Art Center Morro Bay presents two exhibits beginning August 7: “Everyday Common Things,” a members-only show in the main gallery celebrating the often-overlooked objects and moments of daily life, and a Central Coast Artists Collective-sponsored exhibit featuring painting and sculpture upstairs in the Russell Gallery.

An artist reception will be held Sunday, August 10 from 2-4 p.m., with exhibits running through September 15.

“Everyday Common Things” challenged artists to transform the mundane—simple objects, outings, or familiar scenes—into works of art that reveal their hidden significance or charm. By capturing the essence of ordinary, artists invite viewers to see the world around them in new and unexpected ways, finding inspiration and creativity in the simplicity of everyday life.

The Central Coast Artists Collective presents two annual juried shows.

“Brushstrokes 2025,” a California-wide exhibition organized by The Painters Group, showcases a diverse array of artistic expression across various painting mediums, including acrylic, oil, pastel, watercolor, encaustic, digital, and collage. Eric Von Berg, an accomplished artist specializing in landscapes, portraits and scenes of everyday life, serves as juror.

“Off the Wall” is an annual event known for its original and highly inventive work exhibited by members of Central Coast Sculptors. Artist and curator Tim Stark juries the show. He currently serves as coordinator of the Harold J. Miossi Gallery at Cuesta College.
