“After the Rain,” by Gisele Thompson
On Friday, August 1 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Art After Dark returns to San Luis Obispo.
Experience art, poetry, music, and community at galleries and venues across town. Some artists featured in August include:
- Gisele Thompson at HumanKind. She paints in acrylics, which gives a richness and texture to her paintings. Local Musician Mark Ruffing and Antwon Byrd also will be featured.
- Carolyn Chambers at Century 21 Masters. She creates assemblages from fiber, found objects, and acrylic paint or sculpture. The unlikely combinations of materials, textures, and color can be surprising and thought-provoking.
- Vanessa Morrow at MYLR Gallery & Books. In her debut solo show, Morrow invites you into a deeply personal journey of unlearning, reclaiming, and transforming. This emotionally charged exhibit weaves together bold paintings and vulnerable poetry.
- Spring Break Jake at The Bunker. The Bend, Oregon-based painter creates heavily textured, multi-layered work using the juxtaposition of tropical imagery and colors with macabre, Memento Mori-style illustrations.
