“Lined in Gold,” oil, 24”x30”
“Sometimes I see a scene that lives in my mind, insisting to be painted. Sometimes, I just have fun and paint a duck.”
Painting scenes from her life for more than 25 years, Joan Brown has worked in both watercolors and oils. Finding beauty in many things, her subjects change as she enjoys the constant challenge of exploring and pushing the limits of what she can capture in paint.
Brown is presenting a solo exhibit of more than 20 works at the Clark Center for the Performing Arts in Arroyo Grande now through August 28. Her award-winning paintings have been exhibited in state, national and international competitions.
A public reception is scheduled Sunday, July 20, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Clark Center foyer in honor of Brown and artist Fred Ventura, who also is showing his digital paintings. Meet the artists, enjoy light refreshments, and gain deeper insight into the works on display.
