The Atascadero Community Band returns to Atascadero Lake Park Bandstand every Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. for its 40th summer concert season of “Tuesdays in the Park.” Admission is free to all, and the venue has space for locals and visitors to bring lawn chairs, blankets, picnics, and beverages.
Each concert features a variety of different musical styles from jazz to film scores, and showcases a different volunteer conductor each concert. The free concerts will conclude on August 19 with the third annual Ensembles Concert, featuring smaller groups of musicians with chosen rehearsed pieces.
The Atascadero Community Band is a volunteer organization made up of community members of all ages, some being in the band for more than 30 years.
“It’s our way of giving back to the community that supports us,” says Joyce Rabellino, Atascadero Community Band president.
