The San Luis Obispo International Film Festival reports its biggest event ever with more than 8,000 attendees over the 2025 festival’s six-day run April 24-29.
Highlights included a sold-out closing night screening at the Fremont Theater of Coastal, Daryl Hannah’s documentary feature on Neil Young, and standing room only at the presentation of the King Vidor Award to legendary costume designer Bob Mackie. All screenings of the documentary about his career, Bob Mackie: Naked Illusion, sold out.
A full house was present for a Q&A with director/writer/producer Jay Duplass when he received the festival’s Spotlight Award and screened his new film, The Baltimorons, which went on to win the “Best of the Fest” audience award.
Featuring both emerging and established filmmakers from around the globe, the festival showcased 113 films including narrative features, short films, documentary features, and doc shorts.
