Opera San Luis Obispo is set to enchant audiences with a production of The Wizard of Oz May 17 and 18 in Harold Miossi Hall at the Performing Arts Center SLO.
The region’s first grand opera-style rendition of this timeless tale is directed by Justine Prado in her OperaSLO debut, with a nationally acclaimed leading cast and choreography by Drew Silvaggio. The performance will be accompanied by the OperaSLO Grand Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Brian Asher Alhadeff.
The production is a recreation of the famous 1939 movie with expansive two-story sets, vivid costumes, and magical effects including stage flying.
Adding a delightful touch, OperaSLO has introduced its canine star in a charming video where American-born Yorkshire Terrier “Big Mac” officially “signs” his performance contract to play Toto.
All ages are encouraged to immerse themselves in all the iconic characters and songs that have enchanted generations. Tickets can be purchased online.
