The Basin Street Regulars hosts Kathryn Loomis & Co. plus the Early Riser Jazz Combo playing “Hot Swingin’ Jazz” on March 30 at the Oceano Elks Lodge.
Singer-songwriter and Cal Poly graduate Kathryn Loomis, who is from Arroyo Grande, recently recorded and released “The Nicest Thing,” her debut album of original songs. Her band features Cal Poly Jazz Ensemble director Dylan Johnson and another Cal Poly alum, Daryl Voss, as well as local musicians Ron McCarley and Jim Barnett.
Opening for Loomis & Co. is the Early Risers Jazz Combo under the direction of Johnson and led by saxophonist Max Roberts. The band will back the Cal Poly Swing Dance Club demonstrating various types of swing dance.
Food and drinks will be sold and there’s a generous area for dancing at the lodge. Admission is $10 for members, $15 for non-members, and $5 for jammers. Tickets are available online.
