Atascadero Community Band members recently presented a check for $1,155 to Atascadero High School band director Nate Conrad and several of his students, who also play in the Community Band.

The Atascadero Community Band named the Atascadero High School Band Boosters to receive donations made by audience members at its free concert on October 27, “A Concert of Monstrous Proportions,” held at Atascadero Bible Church.

Cal Poly music instructor Nick Waldron was guest conductor for the concert, which included pieces appropriate to the season such as “Phantom of the Opera,” “Time Warp,” and “Heffalumps and Woozles.”

The Atascadero Community Band is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization of area musicians dedicated to keeping music and the arts alive in the local community. Admission to its concerts is always free, with donations supporting local community organizations.
