YES, a short film by local filmmaker Randi Barros about migration and human connection told through the eyes of two eight-year-old girls, is screening at the Palm Theatre on Sunday, October 13 at 4 p.m.
Shot over a four-day period with principal photography taking place at a 200-acre ranch in Castaic, California, the 20-minute film is about a young girl who is unable to speak since losing both of her parents. She is jolted out of her grief when she discovers an immigrant mother and daughter hiding in her backyard and must decide what to do.
The YES screenplay has been honored as a finalist by the ScreenCraft Film Fund 2024, and as a semi-finalist by the Shore Scripts Film Fund 2024 and Outstanding Screenplays Shorts Competition 2023.
A short Q&A with Barros and some of the actors and crew will be held following the sneak preview. Tickets, which are $10, can be purchased at the door or online.
