The Monday Club, founded in 1924, is celebrating its Centennial Anniversary during a special Doors Open California event on Saturday and Sunday, September 28 and 29.

Doors Open California is the largest statewide celebration of historic places, and the annual tour highlights some of the most remarkable architecture throughout California. The Monday Club’s home at 1815 Monterey St. in San Luis Obispo was designed by Hearst Castle architect Julia Morgan and built in 1933-34, and is now listed on the National Register of Historic Buildings.

It will be the setting for several events over the weekend, including a ribbon-cutting ceremony, a premiere screening of the film The Story of The Monday Club and the Women Who Built It, and a discussion led by Julia Morgan expert and author Victoria Kastner.

Living history docents will take visitors back in time to the 1920s and ‘30s, leading tours of the building’s architecture, murals, and gardens approximately every 30 minutes beginning at 11 a.m. both days.
