Ermina Karim, the recently appointed chair of the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art board of directors, clearly has her eyes on tomorrow.
“I’m excited to lead the museum’s board right now as we plan for the museum’s 60th year and its long and exciting future,” Karim said in a recent SLOMA press release. She was previously vice president of the board, and is a member of the organization’s executive committee that includes secretary Cheryl Cuming, treasurer Trudie Safreno, and immediate past chair Barbara Bell.
“Ermina is the perfect leader for this moment at SLOMA,” according to its executive director, Leann Standish. “We have been marching through a massive turnaround for the museum and now we can focus on its future.”
Karim relocated to the area 19 years ago from the East Coast where she had worked as a journalist and in investment banking taking companies public. She spent 11 years with the SLO Chamber of Commerce, including seven years as its CEO. Her recent board service includes French Hospital Medical Center, Rotary Club of San Luis Obispo de Tolosa, SLO4Home, and the Cal Poly Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
Karim’s term as SLOMA’s board chair is for two years.
