SLO County Arts and the City of San Luis Obispo’s Public Art Program are hosting a series of five lectures featuring notable local artists, educators, and curators exploring the stories and creative processes of distinguished artists.
The Art Talk Series, scheduled on select Thursdays between June and October, kicks off at 6 p.m. on June 27 at the SLO City/County Library Community Room with a presentation by Odile Ayral-Clause on 19th century French sculptor Camille Claudel.
With 35 years of experience as a professor of French at Cal Poly and as a biographer of Claudel, Ayral-Clause offers insight into the artist’s legacy, including her first major solo exhibition in this country at the Getty, running through July 21.
Other lectures are scheduled July 18, August 22, September 19, and October 24. All of the events include an opportunity to connect with speakers following each lecture, information about ongoing and future public art projects and initiatives supporting local artists, and a local arts info table.
SLO County Arts is dedicated to supporting and promoting the arts in SLO County through advocacy, education, and partnerships.
The City of SLO Public Arts Program encourages public art that respects the past and embraces the future.
