This event was scheduled February 20-25, 2024.

The week of February 20-25 brings a new series of events from Festival Mozaic: the first Winter Music Festival.

Music Director Scott Yoo and a roster of visiting artists will present a schedule of concerts and master classes for members of the public to explore.

Four free events are included in the week of events: a master class for local cello students with Festival Mozaic cellist Bion Tsang on Tuesday, February 20 at Community Baptist Church; a chamber music workshop for Cal Poly students with violinist Steven Copes and violist Caitlin Lynch on Thursday, February 22; a piano master class for Cal Poly students with Artist-in-Residence John Novacek, also on February 22; and a master class for Allan Hancock College students with Yoo on Saturday, February 24. These events are informative for musicians and non-musicians alike, and while they are free and open to the public, advance reservations are required.

As part of its “Notable” experiences, Festival Mozaic presents a Notable Insight at Congregation Beth David discussing Shostakovich on February 22, a Notable Dinner at Cypress Ridge Pavilion on February 24 discussing Mozart and Dohnanyi, and a performance on February 25 at the Harold J. Miossi Cultural and Performing Arts Center at Cuesta College where the audience hears all of the pieces in a concert setting. Tsang, Copes, Lynch, and pianist Anna Polonsky join Yoo for these events.

Novacek joins his frequent collaborator, renowned violinist Leila Josefowicz, for a duo recital on February 23 at the Templeton Performing Arts Center with a diverse program of music by Debussy, Stravinsky, Szymanowski, and living Estonian composer Erkki-Sven Tüür.
