The San Luis Obispo Poetry Festival celebrates 40 years of creative words with three Saturdays of poetry readings in April.
On April 8 at 1:30 p.m. in the SLO Library Community Room, the festival features SLO Poets Laureate Kevin Clark, Jeanie Greensfelder, and Dian Sousa, along with Benjamine Danile Lawless reading poems by another SLO Poet Laureate, Ivan Brown Otter.
On April 15 at 1 p.m. at the SLO Gala Pride & Diversity Center, featured readers include Ginger Hendrix, George Burns, and Meliza Bañales.
On April 29 at 11 a.m. at the Arroyo Grande Public Library, featured readers will include Amber West, Karl Kempton, and Pilar Graham.
Each event includes time for open readings of original works only (limited to five minutes each) hosted by 2003 SLO Poet Laureate Kevin Patrick Sullivan.
Donations will be accepted at each event. These readings are supported in part by Poets & Writers, the Gala Pride & Diversity Center, SLO County Libraries and community donations.
